Ugly graphs
WebThis is an ugly graph because six observations dominate the graph and the bulk of the data (income < $100,000) is squished together. One solution is to plot income on the \(\log_{10}\) scale. There are a couple ways to do this. The simplest way is to just do a transformation on the column of data.

I wish it would just pause instead of breaking up the graphs. My graphs seem to look strange but this could all be due to the fact that I am running a EQ6R-Pro with a good bit of weight and focal length.
Web16 Aug 2012 · Thank you Gonzalo, well appreciated. will try to customize this sample, spent all day on this. the graph is actually a right angle one with straight line drawn from (0,0) to any number range. trying to label x,y and specifying my position e.g. top left, bottom left would not work. WebIndeed, it should be pretty clear that having ugly plots by default is more likely to hurt your goal of spreading good graphing practices, because it sets a poor example for the user (the “broken window” effect ). Jeff can recognize problems in a plot because he has years of experience in data visualization.
